A delicious apple crumb cake with a soft, moist base, sweet apple filling, and crunchy crumb topping.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add softened butter, egg, and milk. Stir until combined.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Top with diced apples.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, oats, and walnuts (if using). Sprinkle over the apples.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor.
- If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
