Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Cooked rice for serving
  • Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi, shredded carrots

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour the sauce over the ground beef and onion mixture. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  6. Serve the Korean ground beef over cooked rice.
  7. Garnish with your favorite toppings, such as green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi, or shredded carrots.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the level of spiciness.
  • You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef.
