Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp black food coloring
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then add black food coloring.
  5. Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Cool cakes completely before frosting.
