Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 2 tablespoons chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine melted butter and 2 cups granulated sugar.
- Stir in baking powder and salt.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Add flour and cocoa powder, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- If using nuts, fold them in.
- Spread half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until smooth.
- Beat in 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until combined.
- Gently spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter.
- Dollop the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese layer. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool completely in the pan.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with chocolate shavings before serving.
