Description

A classic Chinese dish featuring tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper


Instructions

  1. Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  2. Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. Toss beef in 1 tbsp of the sauce and let marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over high heat and stir-fry beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
  6. In the same pan, stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
  7. Add broccoli and remaining sauce, stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  8. Mix cornstarch and water, then add to the pan to thicken the sauce.
  9. Return beef to the pan, toss to coat, and serve.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, stir-fry broccoli without blanching.
  • Substitute oyster sauce with hoisin if needed.
  • Adjust sugar for preferred sweetness.
