Description
Simple one-pan Chinese Beef and Broccoli recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Slice beef into thin strips.
- Toss beef with cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan.
- Sear beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Cook briefly.
- Add broccoli and water. Steam until tender-crisp.
- Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour sauce over broccoli.
- Return beef to the pan.
- Cook until sauce thickens.
- Serve over rice.
Notes
- Adjust spice level with red pepper flakes.
- Use flank steak as an alternative to sirloin.
- Add carrots or bell peppers if you like.
