Description
Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate madeleines.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 3/4 cup (90g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips, optional
Instructions
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until pale and thick.
- Whisk in vanilla and melted butter.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips, if using.
- Refrigerate batter for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour madeleine molds.
- Fill each mold about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in molds for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- For best results, chill the batter.
- Do not overbake.
- Madeleines are best eaten fresh.
