Description

Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls with a sweet cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Add milk, sugar, salt, butter, and egg. Mix.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle.
  7. Spread with softened butter, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Roll up tightly and cut into rolls.
  9. Place rolls in a baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  11. Make frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
  12. Frost rolls while warm.
