Description
Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls with a sweet cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-4 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add milk, sugar, salt, butter, and egg. Mix.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle.
- Spread with softened butter, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll up tightly and cut into rolls.
- Place rolls in a baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
- Make frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
- Frost rolls while warm.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
- Don’t overmix the dough.
- Adjust the amount of milk in the frosting to reach your desired consistency.
