Description

A simple dump-and-bake casserole featuring chicken parmesan flavors, perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 8 oz uncooked penne pasta
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken.
  4. Add the uncooked penne pasta to the dish.
  5. Pour the water over the pasta and sauce.
  6. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper over everything.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the pasta is tender.
  9. Remove the foil and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  10. Bake for another 5-10 minutes, uncovered, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
