Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, and salt.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
- Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape into rolls.
- Place rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake rolls for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
- For softer rolls, brush with melted butter immediately after baking.
- You can add herbs or cheese to the dough for extra flavor.
