Description
A simple and delicious homemade cranberry orange sauce, perfect for your Thanksgiving table.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces fresh cranberries, rinsed and picked over
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
Instructions
- Combine cranberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until most of the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.
- Stir in the orange zest and orange juice.
- Let cool completely before serving. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
Notes
- For a smoother sauce, you can press the cooked cranberries through a sieve.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of Grand Marnier for extra flavor.
- This sauce can be made a day or two in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
