Description
Spooky and fun Halloween dumplings perfect for a festive dinner or party. These dumplings are shaped like ghosts and are easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup finely chopped scallions
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- 1 package round dumpling wrappers
- Water for sealing
- Vegetable oil for pan-frying
- For dipping sauce: soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground pork, cabbage, scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and white pepper. Mix well.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper.
- Dip your finger in water and moisten the edge of the wrapper.
- Fold the wrapper in half to form a semi-circle, pressing to seal.
- To create a ghost shape, pinch the center of the semi-circle to form a head, leaving two tabs for ears.
- Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place dumplings in the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Add about 1/4 cup of water to the skillet, cover, and steam for 5-7 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
- Remove the lid and let any remaining water evaporate.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for pork.
- For a vegetarian option, use finely chopped mushrooms and tofu.
- Adjust the dipping sauce ingredients to your taste.
