A delicious and easy Christmas breakfast casserole for a festive morning meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 dozen eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup diced onions
- 1 cup diced bell peppers
- 1 cup cubed bread
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Brown the breakfast sausage in a skillet. Drain off any excess grease.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in shredded cheese, diced ham, diced onions, diced bell peppers, and cooked sausage.
- Add the cubed bread and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute other breakfast meats like bacon or chorizo.
- Add other vegetables like mushrooms or spinach if desired.
- For a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
