Rich chocolate brownies infused with refreshing peppermint, perfect for your Christmas dessert table.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup peppermint chips
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter and unsweetened chocolate over low heat. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Stir granulated sugar into the chocolate mixture.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the peppermint chips.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
- Once cooled, sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the top.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a stronger peppermint flavor, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract to the batter.
- Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
