Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)
- ½ cup caramel sauce
- ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Press half of the dough into the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
- Spread the chopped apples evenly over the crust.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples.
- Sprinkle the flaky sea salt over the caramel.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
- Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
