A light and airy Strawberry Angel Food Cake, perfect for a refreshing dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 (14.1 ounce) angel food cake mix
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare angel food cake mix according to package directions, adding vanilla extract.
- Pour batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
- Bake for the time specified on the cake mix box.
- Let the cake cool upside down on a wire rack.
- While the cake cools, slice strawberries.
- If desired, sprinkle strawberries with sugar and let them macerate.
- Once the cake is cool, gently remove it from the pan.
- Top with sliced strawberries and serve.
Notes
- For best results, use a clean angel food cake pan.
- Do not grease the pan.
- You can add a dollop of whipped cream.
