- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: Sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the center is set.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan before frosting.
- To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled sugar cookie bars.
- Add sprinkles if desired.
- Cut into bars and serve.
Notes
- Ensure butter is truly softened for best results when creaming.
- Do not overmix the dough after adding flour.
- Cool bars completely before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
- Frosting consistency can be adjusted with more powdered sugar (thicker) or milk (thinner).
