Description
A quick and easy recipe for traditional Indian Sweet Milk Barfi Squares.
Ingredients
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Optional: slivered almonds and pistachios for garnish
Instructions
- Boil the milk in a heavy-bottomed pan, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
- Reduce the milk, stirring continuously, until it thickens and reduces to about 1/4 of its original volume.
- Add sugar and ghee, continue stirring until the mixture thickens further and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Stir in cardamom powder.
- Pour the mixture onto a greased plate or tray.
- Sprinkle with nuts (optional).
- Let it cool completely, then cut into square or diamond shapes.
Notes
- Use full-fat milk for the best texture and flavor.
- Stir continuously to prevent burning.
- Adjust sugar to your taste.
- You can add food coloring if you want.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
