Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, 1/4 cup of the brown sugar, and the cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, the remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar, and salt.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
