Ingredients
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook ziti pasta according to package directions. Drain.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Brown ground beef, then drain any excess grease.
- Add onion and garlic; cook until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
- In a baking dish, layer half the ziti, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
