Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for strawberries)
- Whipped cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until just combined.
- Gently fold the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- Pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
- While biscuits bake, combine sliced strawberries and sugar. Let them macerate.
- Split warm biscuits.
- Add strawberries and whipped cream.
- Serve and enjoy your strawberry shortcake.
