Description
Simple and delicious strawberry shortcake in a sheet cake form.
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- Ingredients listed on cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
- 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare cake mix according to box directions.
- Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While cake cools, macerate strawberries with sugar.
- Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Once cake is cool, top with macerated strawberries and whipped cream.
- Serve immediately or chill.
Notes
- You can substitute store-bought whipped cream.
- Adjust sweetness to your preference.
- Cake can be made a day ahead.
