Description

Simple and delicious strawberry shortcake in a sheet cake form.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • Ingredients listed on cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare cake mix according to box directions.
  3. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. While cake cools, macerate strawberries with sugar.
  6. Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  7. Once cake is cool, top with macerated strawberries and whipped cream.
  8. Serve immediately or chill.

Notes

  • You can substitute store-bought whipped cream.
  • Adjust sweetness to your preference.
