Description
A light and airy French apple cake with thinly sliced apples.
Ingredients
- 6-7 medium apples, such as Honeycrisp or Fuji
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the milk.
- Gently fold in the apple slices.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For a more intense apple flavor, use a variety of apple types.
- You can adjust the sweetness to your preference.
