A classic New Orleans dish. You’ll love the rich flavors of this Creole Shrimp.
Ingredients
- 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Creole seasoning, thyme, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer.
- Add shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve over cooked rice.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of Creole seasoning and cayenne pepper to your taste.
- You can add a tablespoon of butter at the end for extra richness.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
