Description
This is a simple stir-fry dish featuring sausage, cabbage, and bell peppers.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 head cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup chicken broth
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside, leaving a small amount of drippings in the pan.
- Add the chopped onion and bell peppers to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the thinly sliced cabbage and minced garlic. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage wilts.
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Add the dried thyme and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Pour in the chicken broth and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
- For extra flavor, use a mix of sweet and hot Italian sausage.
- This dish pairs well with rice or noodles.
