A classic Southern dessert featuring sweet peaches baked in a golden crust.
Ingredients
- 6 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine peaches, 1 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Place butter pieces in a baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk and stir until just combined.
- Pour batter over butter.
- Spoon peach mixture over the batter.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- You can substitute frozen peaches.
- Adjust sugar to your preference.
