  • Author: Melissa

  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

This recipe features a one-pan pasta dish with sausage, spinach, and a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sriracha (optional)
  • 8 oz pasta, uncooked (penne or rotini recommended)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha (if using). Pour the sauce over the sausage and onions in the skillet.
  4. Add the uncooked pasta to the skillet, stirring to coat. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Stir in the fresh spinach and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired, before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust sriracha to your preferred level of spice.
  • Any short pasta shape will work well in this recipe.
  • Ensure the skillet has a tight-fitting lid for proper pasta cooking.
