Description
This recipe features a one-pan pasta dish with sausage, spinach, and a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sriracha (optional)
- 8 oz pasta, uncooked (penne or rotini recommended)
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha (if using). Pour the sauce over the sausage and onions in the skillet.
- Add the uncooked pasta to the skillet, stirring to coat. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Stir in the fresh spinach and cook until wilted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- Adjust sriracha to your preferred level of spice.
- Any short pasta shape will work well in this recipe.
- Ensure the skillet has a tight-fitting lid for proper pasta cooking.
