Description

A simple and delicious sheet cake version of the classic strawberry shortcake.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • Ingredients listed on cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare cake mix according to package directions.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for time specified on box.
  4. While cake is baking, combine sliced strawberries and granulated sugar in a bowl. Let sit for at least 15 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract; whip until stiff peaks form.
  7. Let cake cool completely.
  8. Top cake with macerated strawberries and whipped cream.
  9. Slice and serve.

Notes
