Ingredients
- Chicken thighs: 6, boneless and skinless
- Soy sauce: 1/2 cup
- Mirin: 1/4 cup
- Sake: 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger: 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Water: 1 tablespoon
- Sesame seeds: For garnish
- Green onions: For garnish, sliced
Instructions
- Combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a bowl.
- Marinate chicken thighs in the teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
- Mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat.
- Sear chicken thighs until browned and cooked through.
- Remove chicken from the pan.
- Pour remaining marinade into the pan and bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens.
- Return chicken to the pan and coat with the sauce.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
- Serve with rice.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, add more cornstarch.
- You can use chicken breasts instead of thighs. Adjust cooking time.
