This Cinnamon Apple Coffee Cake is a delicious treat. It’s perfect for a tea party or a simple dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Cinnamon Sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Gently fold in the diced apples and nuts (if using).
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of cinnamon sugar to your preference.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.
- This cake is great served warm or at room temperature.
