Description
A flavorful and classic Louisiana dish featuring shrimp in a rich tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat.
- Add onion, bell pepper, and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Creole seasoning, thyme, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve over cooked rice.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to your preferred level of spiciness.
- For a richer flavor, use seafood stock instead of chicken broth.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions.
